Demographics

As a resident in the Lyndon Fire Protection District, you are protected by the finest department in Jefferson County. Your fire department has received a Class 3 rating from the Insurance Service Organization (ISO). The ISO rates fire departments on a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the lowest level of protection.

Lyndon Fire serves over 50,000 residents in 14 square miles. The population practically doubles during the day, due largely in part to the rapid commercial/office growth we've experienced over the last few years.

911:

The members of our community are served by an enhanced "911" emergency dispatch system, through MetroSafe communications. Should you have a fire, police or medical emergency, you should dial "911" immediately.

Staff:

We operate 2 engine companies and one ladder company out of two stations. Our headquarters station is located at 8126 New LaGrange Road, and our Station 2 is located at 8414 Westport Road.

Lyndon Fire is staffed by both career and volunteer fire fighters. Career personnel are on duty 24 hours a day at both stations to ensure an immediate response to any emergency. Our career staff is supplemented by a corps of volunteer fire fighters who provide additional emergency support whenever the need arises. In addition to fire suppression and emergency medical calls, our staff also provides administration, training, fire inspections, public education, maintenance and other duties.

Statistics:

Lyndon Fire responded to more than 2,000 calls for service last year, and anticipate even more calls this year. These calls included fires, rescues, auto accidents, hazardous materials spills, weather related emergencies and mutual aid services to neighboring fire departments. Lyndon Fire also responds with Louisville Metro EMS to provide emergency medical care prior to ambulance arrival. Our career staff are emergency medical technicians that utilize state-of-the-art equipment that is carried on the fire apparatus.

Join Our Team:

As we stated earlier, we are a combination fire department, consisting of both career and volunteer fire fighters. We are always accepting applications for volunteer fire fighters.
