Lyndon Fire and Rescue Co-Hosts 5K Run/Walk.
Event to benefit Crusade for Children.


Louisville, KY (8/26/09) - Lyndon Fire and Rescue is pleased to announce that, in a partnership with Westport Village, we will be co-hosting the first annual Phyllis Knight Memorial 5k Run/Walk to benefit the Crusade for Children.

 

This event will honor the memory, dedication and contributions of Phyllis Knight Gifford to the Crusade and the community.

 

Phyllis Knight Gifford was a pioneering female broadcaster in Louisville. She became the executive director and producer of the WHAS Crusade for Children in 1976, which celebrated several milestones under her leadership including a 25th anniversary and its first million dollar year.

 

The event will take place on Saturday, October 17th at Westport Village, located at Westport Road and Herr Lane. The race will begin at 9:30 a.m., and will be followed by Lyndon Fire and Rescue’s annual safety festival.

 

All fire departments are encouraged to participate in the 5k with a team of runners/walkers. Registration for this event can be completed by visiting the following link:
