Welcome to Lyndon Fire & Rescue online!
There has been much information in the news recently
regarding our desire to begin an Advanced Life Support (ALS)
ambulance service in our district.
We believe that by doing so, we can enhance our ability to
provide the best customer service we possibly can, a goal we
strive to meet every day.

...and we can't do it alone. Without the support and help of motivated,
energetic people like you, our job would be next to impossible.
Fire fighting is a very rewarding and exciting job. It is also a job that is
rich with tradition and honor. Fire fighters everywhere have a tremendous amount
of integrity and pride for their profession that is surpassed by none. You will
find that our fire fighters strive for excellence through continuing education
and continuous training, and are considered to be among the best around.
As a volunteer fire fighter, you will be asked to work in all kinds of
weather, and at all hours of the day and night. Make no mistake about it, this
is hard work; both mentally and physically. This can be a very demanding and
dangerous job.

8126 New LaGrange Road. Please feel free to stop by and pick one up. Once you
have submitted your completed application for membership, we encourage you to
visit the firehouse in order to familiarize yourself with the members of the
department, as well as the facilities and equipment we use. You may also be
invited to participate in our 'Ride-Along' program.
Characteristics of the Work
- Performs technical fire fighting work of considerable difficulty under
specific direction, often under hazardous conditions
- Performs routine tasks regarding the maintenance of equipment
- Performs related work as required
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid Kentucky driver's license
- Must be of good moral character, with no felony criminal record (the
department reserves the right to review each application and determine
eligibility on a case-by-case basis).

Examples of the Work
- Attend classes to learn fire fighting methods such as suppression
tactics, maintenance and operational procedures on equipment, first aid
procedures, inspection methods and a variety of related topics
- Respond to alarms with assigned company
- Enter into burning buildings with hose lines or other equipment
- Raise, lower and climb ladders (including ground ladders and aerial
devices)
- Breach walls or other obstacles to fight fires or effect rescues
- Ventilate buildings to remove toxic smoke gases
- Drive motor vehicles to and from emergency sites as directed
- Remove persons from danger by team or individual methods
- Perform overhaul operations to insure the complete extinguishment of
fires
- Perform salvage operations
- Clean fire apparatus and equipment as necessary
- Check and maintain equipment to insure operational readiness
